Deshpande's Adda!

Thanks to my gruesome job, I find no time to write and update my blog :'( However I did find "this" little time for updating my Temple Run Stats! Total Games: 763 Distance: 1,818 Kms Coins: 522K How is it? The average coins/distance per game comes to about: 2300m and 685 coins per run! What do you think?

Temple Run has to be one of the most played games on the mobile phone! It is simple, yet addictive and I was no alien to it! I have played over a thousand games, with a multiplier of 43x, have achieved majority of the objectives. (only those who have played it will understand) One fine day, I read it in an English daily that Temple Run 2 had been launched, and I quickly installed it and am playing the newer version almost every day !! This is a mini-review of Temple Run 2…. First of all, the game has taken considerable leaps in terms of graphics. The terrain has completely changed with the newer one looks more like a fort built on a mountain rather than a traditional temple. However the best part of the terrain is the addition of interesting features/obstacles such as the waterfalls, rivers, zip-lines, cut-trees, arch-bridges, stairs and even tunnels (where one travels in a cart). Along with that, the road is zig-zag and not straight unlike the one in the game’s ...

It is surprising to know that Swami Vivekananda is still the most 'preferred' Youth Icon. Recently, he turned 150 years old.  What is so special in a "sanyasi" who wore a saffron robe and spoke on philosophy all his life? Why he is still called the "founder" of new and young Indian thinking. The answer lies in his principles. He believed in empowerment, more in the lines of "tat tvam asi" or "aham bramhasmi". You are the creator and the master of your destiny. Your soul is divine and you should start searching for God in yourself. Every human being is a privileged soul. You should not consider yourself to be weak and feeble. He not only revived Hinduism but also "improved" it by a huge extent. As expected he disregarded the caste system, he disregarded monotheism and refuted idolatry as insignificant. Swami Vivekananda was a preacher of education and mental fitness. He recognised the value of wholesome education an...

I have written an article on Sportskeeda on the recent performance of Shakhtar in the UEFA Champions League. It is different because I didn't find any decent article on Shakhtar's performance, hence mustered time and patience for research for it! Here is the link!

I read a fantastic article on Project Syndicate. The link is given at the end of this paragraph. The article deals with how humans deal with fear and how our brain is structured too. Though that is not the focal point, I came to know about it from the article. http://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/anatomy-of-fear What point I am trying to make here is that, being a  programmer or a person from software engineering background, the comprehension of the article was made more interesting! Yes, that is because the article stressed on how the logic of fear is developed in the brain. It is quite analogous to coding! Programmers too have to develop a logic FROM SCRATCH, and consider ALL conditions and contingency. Hence, I was wondering how would anyone replicate the logic of fear that our human brain has developed. Our brain is surely programmed by some awesome coder, it is a creation of a zillion lines of codes put in over years and years of improvement. The very fact that ...

The Dark Knight Rises- And It Ends The Most Awesome Trilogy of the 21st century As promised, I am writing my views and a mini report on “ The Dark Knight Rises ” or TDKR . This post does not contain any spoilers, so people who haven’t seen it can also have a read. Plus I am not revealing any part of the movie or the story. Just as a prelude ( people knowing about TDKR and Nolan can skip the para ): this is the third and the conclusive film on The Batman, directed by the much acclaimed and revered  Christopher Nolan. He has directed masterpieces like The Prestige (my all time favourite), Inception , Memento etc. The first two movies are The Batman Begins and The Dark Knight . Both being super hits and excellent movies. This movie had a lot of hype and expectation behind it, because Nolan was going to end a character, which was given a new birth by him. The Batman, or Nolan’s Batman or even Christian Bale’s Batman (the actor) was going to end his reel life in the film. I...

This is a satirical piece, wherein political parties active in Maharashtra display their opportunism, using the example of the famous phrase- “Strike the Iron while it is Hot” . I hope you all know its meaning. I will start with the Ruling Parties: 1. NCP - They are the most efficient strikers. They not only strike the iron while it is hot, but also show continuous efforts to heat the iron by striking it repeatedly. But their problem is that, that they like to use the mallet which had been discarded by the other workmen rather than getting their own mallet. Hence sometimes it can do wonders (municipal elections) and sometimes can be terrible (LS elections). 2. Congress - They show team work in striking the iron. Many workmen try to strike the iron at a time using their own mallets. Sometimes the iron is shaped beautifully. But in other cases, the mallet hits some other workmen’s fingers and gets him injured (infighting). At the same time, they are over depe...
