My commentary on Sayameva Jayate's show on Caste System

I admit that i switched off my tv-set almost 3/4th way into the show. But from whatever I have seen, these are my conclusion/readings:

1. In Urban areas (amounts to 35%) along with semi-urban, like towns or talukas, i think the problem of 'untouchability' is negligible or nearly zero. Even if there might be a few orthodox people, the majority of the villagers would have subdued it. Brahmins constitute less than 4% of the Indian population!!  My village and places where my cousins live don’t face the problem. The problem, if it really exists is only in rural or “khed gavs”. I have not seen untouchability in my life!! But have heard my grandparents talk about it. I think looking at the rate of urbanization and education, this problem will slowly get eradicated.

2. About the priest talking like this, it would be a gross miscalculation if that was to be generalized. I think less than 0.1% Brahmins would accept his views. Secondly, there is no written/scientific proof of what he spoke about ManuSmriti. I have heard those claims (body parts and caste derivatives) from only those who bash Hindu/Sanatani religions

3. There is a big irony that I noticed: Someone told Aamir that the solution to caste system is inter-caste marriage. Mixing of blood would normalize and equate all Indians. Adv. Dharmadhikari said that the castes doesn't reach the blood, it is only peripheral.  He gave the eg. of blood donation to a upper caste person...
Whom to believe? Rather which Principle to follow?

4. Talking about the present scenario, who is actually utilizing/reaping the benefits of the caste system today? The show portrayed the Brahmins/Upper Castes in bad light but it is the opposite who get reservations and special privileges. One survey showed, that reservations and politicking was the reason why children/youth are involved in caste differences. Who is to be blamed here?

Caste System, traditional to a village, was not an evil of the Hindu Sanskriti, rather it ensured employment to all the inhabitants of the village. However it is now obsolete because the domain to which it was applicable or limited ceases to exist. I want to write another article on the caste system in detail and my commentary on that, but will do that later!

What do you think?

1)ur right that untouchability mostly isnt followed at tha urab levels, but we like it or not tha casteism exists,i often get to hear"Yain SC/STs ko sab phukat main milta hain, anpad hain kuch kaamke nahin" at tha same time dalits do hav a feeling of grudge against all brahmins,so casteism doesn exist n must be destroyed
2)dont hav much experience with it,but some brahmins n kshatriya castes(like my caste:P) do beleive that dalits r treated tha way they r because of scriptures,in todays times even brahmins understand that casteism isnt right, but sadly in ancient times in were tha brahmins who used to say that manusmriti tells us to do sao
3)i disagree here, inter caste marriages r tha only solution, thats what even ambedkar had said sadly even in SC's an SC chamar cant marry a non chamar SC,so i think inter caste marriages must be encouraged n people should forget their castes
4)dalits r benefitting reservation, but tha fact is our upper caste ancestors hav discriminated against them since centuries, perhaps Karma is cuming back to us,but i am against OBC reservation,OBC reservation was sheer politics,i support reservation but tha system of reservation must be fine tuned coz only tha rich dalits get advantage of it,tha poor ones dnt even get to school

u might hav felt that i hav kinda targeted brahmins, but sad fact is upper castes n brahmins even more allowed casteism to be there for centuries but m not a brahmin basher, just a realist coz
swami vivekanda said "it is right to criticize tha brahmins for their wrong doings, but tha things they did rightly must also be commended" :D
