Political Parties in Maharashtra and their Opportunism

This is a satirical piece, wherein political parties active in Maharashtra display their opportunism, using the example of the famous phrase- “Strike the Iron while it is Hot”. I hope you all know its meaning.

I will start with the Ruling Parties:

1. NCP- They are the most efficient strikers. They not only strike the iron while it is hot, but also show continuous efforts to heat the iron by striking it repeatedly. But their problem is that, that they like to use the mallet which had been discarded by the other workmen rather than getting their own mallet. Hence sometimes it can do wonders (municipal elections) and sometimes can be terrible (LS elections).

2. Congress- They show team work in striking the iron. Many workmen try to strike the iron at a time using their own mallets. Sometimes the iron is shaped beautifully. But in other cases, the mallet hits some other workmen’s fingers and gets him injured (infighting). At the same time, they are over dependent on their supervisor (high command). They work only when their supervisor tells them so, otherwise they are busy fighting with each other for their mallets.

Now the Opposition Parties:

1. Shiv Sena- They are the deadliest strikers! They have the strongest mallet/hammer to strike. But the tragedy is that they only have a few workmen who can do that. In addition, they sometimes strike and sometimes don’t. When they strike, which is the hardest of all, the Iron maybe hot or sometimes blatantly cold. Hence they seldom get miraculous results (BMC win) and many a times blow hot and cold (Assembly elections).

2. BJP- They are the most frequent strikers! Like Shiv Sena they have a few, but very capable workmen, but they lack the strength to strike. They try very hard, but mostly fail to strike at the right time. BJP constantly puts the ruling party in the back foot during the assembly session, but still cannot get as much seats or support as Cong. or the NCP.

3. MNS- They strike only when the Iron is hot! If the iron is not hot, MNS is a non-entity. During election time, i.e. when it matters the most, MNS is all over the places, especially Raj. Hence he/MNS strikes decisively only during election i.e. when the iron is hot!

4. RPI- They only perform the action of hitting, but the fact is that the mallet is with Shiv Sena and the Iron is with the BJP!

5. SP,BSP,CPI etc.- Do they even have a Mallet?
