The Dark Knight Rises And Ends!
The Dark Knight Rises- And It Ends The Most Awesome Trilogy of the 21st century
As promised, I am writing my views and a
mini report on “The Dark Knight Rises” or TDKR. This post does not contain any spoilers,
so people who haven’t seen it can also have a read. Plus I am not revealing any
part of the movie or the story.
Just as a prelude (people knowing about
TDKR and Nolan can skip the para): this is the third and the conclusive film
on The Batman, directed by the much acclaimed and revered Christopher Nolan. He has directed masterpieces
like The Prestige (my all time favourite), Inception, Memento etc. The first
two movies are The Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Both being super hits and
excellent movies. This movie had a lot of hype and expectation behind it,
because Nolan was going to end a character, which was given a new birth by him.
The Batman, or Nolan’s Batman or even Christian Bale’s Batman (the actor) was
going to end his reel life in the film. I am narrating my experience and a short
analysis on the movie.
As
pre-decided, my few friends and I pre-booked “First Day First Show” tickets for
TDKR. The theater was full of Nolan fans like us, most in their late teens or
early twenties. There was a big roar when the Certificate of the Movie
appeared, followed by another when Batman made his entry. And the biggest roar,
along with a round of applause when the movie ended.
The movie has a slow start. Similarly to
most Nolan movies; it will shift you to his virtual world. You will be
wondering- what next, you will start predicting the next scenes or even run
faster than the movie, only initially. But then don’t forget you are up against
Christopher Nolan and it is almost a one sided battle.
The story is not as strong as The Prestige, but it is definitely a very good one. The Sound Effects are world class- Hans Zimmer never disappoints us. The cinematography is inch perfect, and so are other technical aspects.

There are a few new characters in the movie, namely The CatWoman, Bane and one mystery character which I do not wish to reveal. All have their roles perfectly crafted and worked out. The existing ones, especially Alfred, has a very different role to play, though the same character.
As the second half begins, Nolan slowly
starts to show his true colors! We then just flow in the direction he gives,
there is no competition here! It is almost unpredictable how the story will take
you. You will see a series of Anti-Climax’ till the end, and that is the USP of
the film! The end, a fitting one, will be etched in your memory and as you move
out of the theater you will be lost in it.
I was sad, to see the trilogy end, no more Nolan’s
Batman. I was happy, to have witnessed such spectacular 3 hours. I had Goosebumps
all over my body, seeing the twists and the turns till the realization. I was ecstatic,
that the movie which I have watched may even influence my time ahead. Though
the feeling was temporal, the thrill was worth a kick of a peg of tequila!
I end by a few pointers to the people who
have not seen the movie. Firstly, it is an over-hyped movie; it surely will try
to match the expectation. But don’t expect it to mind boggle you like Inception
or amuse you like The Prestige, this movie is a genre on its own. Secondly, it
has a few vital references from its predecessors. So it is better if you have
watched the two movies or at-least known the stories. Thirdly, the acting is
just brilliant. But don’t compare The Joker with The Bane or even Alfred or Mr
Fox to the previous movies.
I am pretty sure, that if you go to watch
the movie without much expectation or hype, you will enjoy it better. Also
forget that this movie is made by Nolan, so that you will have an open mind
when you watch it. Make sure you have forgotten the trailer before you watch
it, because then you will tend to predict scenes.
All the best for 3 hours of awesomeness and
quality.
