Match Rating :- Manchester Unt. v/s Chelsea
I hadn't seen any EPL match, full fledged this season. Nor do i like the 2 teams, hence my review of the match up will be or is totally unbiased. The Final, as expected was a tough one and a high paced but unnecessarily physical. Grant and Ferguson, both, tried out different tactics. Hargreaves started in a different position and Grant picked a side that had never played before...!!
In the end Man U won on penalties whereas Chelsea were unlucky to hit the post twice.
I though the referee was a little biased towards ManUtd.
ManUtd:-
VanDerSaar: 5
poor, slipped many a times and was partially responsible for Lampard's poacher goal as he'd slipped on the way. Good only at penalty saving
Vidic: 7
Had an good game overall, did contain Drogba many times but also was over powered by him also
Ferdinand: 7.5
Ferdinand in his near best, was extremely strong yet reckless in dealing with Malouda,Cole and other Chelsea forwards including Drogba. But a few scary challenges looked a little threatening as a penalty for a high leg on Cole
Evra:8
Very well played, both defensively and mixed well with Ronaldo creating hosts of chances thru the left flank
Brown: 7.5
Provided the cross for Ronaldo's goal, and was solid on the flank. Nothing special of him...!!
Scholes: 7.5
Made his presence ever felt in the midfield, never stopped running and creating chances
Carrick: 7
A quite game in the first half, but a more defensive one in the second half were Chelsea were dominating posssesion
Hargreaves: 7.5
Played in the right side of midfield as a attacking player and was quite effective. But after drifting to the center he played a decent role. But due to his positioning and gameplay i rate him half a point lower
Ronaldo: 7.5
You may be surprised by this rating, but i was expecting a ballond'or performance. He played well, scored, no doubts; but not that was expected in that standards. Dominated Essien in the first half, faded away in the second; yet showed some mesmerizing movements
Tevez:8.5
Excellent. Never stopped dribbling and never stopped running. Even though he didnt make any major impact, kept the United Machinery going. No mention of the slap incident here
Rooney: 7.5
A quite and isolated performance whom i had expected more. Yet was influential in making some good counterattacks.
Cech: 8
Awesome, kept Chelsea in the game in the first half, showed up well in the second
Terry:8
Tight defending by the captain. At his near best
Carvalho: 7.5
Was a little shaky but had a flawless game
Essien: 6.5
I didnt likehis game, pawned by Ronaldo in the first half, was often venturing forward. He was responsible for Lampard's goal, yet gets a low rating
Cole: 8
WOW..he plays so well ?? Excellent attacking and defending. Flawless
Makalele: 7
Shaky yet solid performance. Was completely isolated in the deep-midfield
Lampard: 8
Scored a poaching goal. Was quite in the first half though, came up good in the second half
Ballack: 7.5
Same as Lampard, but took some unnecessary long shots
Malouda: 7
I didnt like his game nor was he so effective
Cole: 8.5
Excellent, as good as Tevez. Best Blue player on the pitch. Ran throughout the field. Was very unlucky to receive some horrendous decisions of corners, yet he played very well.
Drogba: 8
Was isolated in the attacking third, yet was a huge,huge physical presence. Was unlucky not to score.
Referee: 6 You made some bad decisions..!!
