Reverse Psychology – on the recent Gopinath Munde episode

Reverse Psychology is sensational, if one can implement it correctly. Still, I was always under the belief that subjects like reverse psychology were more speculative rather than achievable, because one doesn't have a preset standard or a procedural methodology to practice them. This leads to my conclusion that miracles that occur due to Reverse Psychology are more heuristic and intrinsic rather than cognitive.

How does it relate to current day politics? As a keen political observer, probing the Gopinath Munde case just reinforced my inference that Reverse Psychology miracles occur unknowingly or intrinsically.
You must be wondering how? Well this is how it goes.

Everyone knows what the background to the Munde-Gadkari dual is, so I am briefly expanding it again. After Gadkari’s elevation to the position of National Executive President (the highest one can reach in the BJP), people instinctively concluded it as a move which alleviated Munde. And for the last 2 years, the relationship between the two biggies was fiercely unstable. Pune BJP chief selection incident just set the cat among the pigeons, restoring their rivalry. It was previously said that Munde was destined to join the Congress, one day or the other. Munde’s faith flirted with such a reckoning Day, only to whorishly turn around to show the back, somewhat teasingly.

But with what all happened during the tenure of a week or so, was depicted as an internal skirmish within the BJP. The media, which has always highlighted the uglier side of the BJP, was quick to pounce on it, giving it a prime-time priority and grossly exaggerating a seemingly small issue. In the end, Munde stayed with the BJP in spite of blatant conspiracies and cock and bull stories. But the whole incident, looking from an observer and a practicing (;-)) reverse psychologists angle was indeed a masterpiece? Confused? Read on…

Let us forget the dramas that took place, because what matters is the end result. Thanks to the media, Gopinath Munde is now known to all of India (not only Maharashtra). Also the media in an attempt to disrepute the BJP, projected Munde as one of the leaders who established the base of BJP in Maharashtra (along with Late Pramod Mahajanji). Also he was projected as a mass-OBC leader, often praised even by stern opposition leaders, and BJP was sidelining him because of his cast, despite having strong OBC leaders like the ‘PM in the waiting’ Narendra Modi and Uma Bharti. Hence this just improved the eminence of Gopinath Munde indirectly as the media projected the true quality of an under-rated leader. This was exactly the opposite of what the cruel media wanted to project!! To add on, Sushma Swaraj was projected as the one who resolved the dispute, in turn enhancing her rapport! And the BJP ate a vital week of footage over the incident.

Plus now BJP has a reason to relieve him from the post of Dy. Leader in the Lok Sabha and give him a more fruitful role in Maharashtra, promoting another leader to that post! Two birds in one try :-)

Knowingly or unknowingly it was a classic political masterpiece thanks to intrinsic reverse psychology. Who used it? No one, it just happened, or was the RSS involved? (Ask Digvijaya SIngh)
